The story of Flower Futures began in 2009, just as the band had completed its transformation from the benevolent dictatorship -- Polly Moller & Company -- to the democratic Reconnaissance Fly. Polly had begun collecting the best Internet spam poetry, or "spoetry", she could find and proposed a concept album setting 10 of these "spoems" to music. Each member of the band was given spoems to set, and five years later, Flower Futures is the result - showcasing the band's versatility and each member's unique compositional style.
Polly herself created the jazz-inflected "Emir Scamp Budge", the dreamy "Oh! Goldfinch Cage", and "Electric Rock Like a Cat", which she describes as a Scarlatti pet food commercial from another dimension. Amanda Chaudhary contributed two graphic scores, "Small Chinese Gong" and "Seemed to Be Divided in Twain", as well as funky crowd favorite "Sanse Is Crede nza". Tim Walters revealed his progressive rock expertise in "One Should Never" and "An Empty Rectangle", and a cabaret vibe in "As Neat As Wax". Former members Bill Wolter and Chris Broderick gave the album "The Animal Trade in Canada" and "The Party Constraint", respectively.
