Saxophonist and composer Aaron Bennett has been an active force in the Bay Area jazz and improvised music communities for more than 15 years. He earned a BA in music at Cal State Long Beach, and an MFA in jazz performance from California Institute of the Arts, where he studied with Wadada Leo Smith, and immersed himself in the music of West Africa, Indonesia, South and North India, and Traditional Japanese Gagaku music. He has performed throughout the United States and abroad including performances with Wadada Leo Smith, Peter Kowald, John Butcher, Henry Kaiser, Francis Wong, Oluyemi Thomas, Donald Robinson, Gianni Gebbi and many others. He leads his own group Go-Go-Fightmaster, and performs in the Weasel Walter Quintet and Lisa Mezzacappa's Bait & Switch. |
