Skatchbox Blues a tribute to Tom Nunn, (aka Thomas Skatchit) and his musical invention – The Skatchbox. The song celebrates the low budget joy of making and playing your own instrument. The skatchbox is made from a cardboard box (usually a computer keyboard box) with various objects glued to its surface. Specially shaped combs are used to play it and contact microphones are attached to the inside of the box amplifying its “magical sounds such as the wind rustling through the trees, croaking frogs, stinging bees.” Skatchbox Blues was written and produced by David Michalak, the D. in the skatchbox duo, T.D. Skatchit and features the incredible voice of Aurora Josephson and soulful guitar of Michael Knowlton. The CD also includes The Runaround and Nurse Skatchit which embrace the wondrous sounds of the skatchbox with pianist Thollem McDonas "Treasure’s in the trash." - Thomas Skatchit Tom Nunn - skatchbox
