ATTO PLAIN is a sound project based on filmic intentions and the interaction of the two-dimensional plain. With focus in message delivery through morse code, XY assignments, plain-field traveling on water vs. land, and light interaction with circuitry and filmic influence through voices. The duo performs with the intention of telling a story of longing and the effects of parting as one travels away in exploration. Michael Mersereau is a multidisciplinary media artist and experimental musician. His work transforms the time based material of cinema and television into new melodrama narratives of sound and light. Jeanie-Aprille Tang, an electronic musician and installation artist, her work and performance focuses in transparent materials such as plexi-glass and hydrophone recordings. A former student of behavioral science, she practices in sound consists of cross-modal synesthetic influences from the contemporary moment, as well as synopsis and identity assignments from geometric perspectives. With field recordings of different environments, the illusion of spaces, unnatural entering, exiting, and transitions are created, with modulations and blending of synthetic timbre and frequencies. |
